Protect your TV During your Move

couple moving tvOne of the worst things that can happen while moving is breaking an important item… specifically your TV…. Here at A-1 Freeman Moving Group, we know how terrible it is to to get to your new home with a broken TV. We want to make your move as stress-free as it can be here in Tulsa, whether your move is local or long distance. To help you out we write up a few tips and tricks to help when getting your TV ready for the move.

In order to move your television, you’re going to
have to have a box that’s the right size for your TV. Using the box and packaging that it came in is a great idea – if you still have that. If you got rid of it though, you can buy a package specifically made for moving flat-panel TVs from somewhere like a hardware store or a moving supply retailer. You should get a box that is just a little bit bigger than the TV, but not by a lot; you don’t want the TV to bounce around when it’s inside. Transporting fragile and large items requires packing and preparation training and knowledge, not just moving trucks or specialized equipment. At A-1 Freeman Moving Group our team of experienced movers will help you with your move in any and every way you need, even if it’s just packing up your television.

Before unplugging everything, you should snap a few pictures behind your television with all the cords plugged in. This will make it a lot easier when it’s time to reinstall everything. After taking a picture, start getting your TV ready to pack. Unplug it and take out the power cord, then any other connecting cords. Put everything into a bag together and keep it with the TV. Sometimes there is a base you need to remove from the television so you can fit it in the box. If that’s the case, get everything inside a little bag and keep it with the base so everything stays in one place.

After this is done, you can get the TV all packed up. No matter if you are going far from Tulsa or you are simply moving locally, it’s important to see that your television is well covered. Get foam pieces to go over the TV screen, you will find some in your kit if you decided to buy one, or in the box that your TV was in originally if you still have that. The foam doesn’t just keep the screen from being scratched, but it also keeps your television from bumping around in the box during the move. Secure the foam pieces using mover’s wrap or tape. Then use blankets or sheets to cover the whole TV and prevent it from being scratched.

After your TV is totally covered up it’s up to you to put it into the box! Keep your TV upright as you do this, and secure it as well as you can by filling spaces and gaps with more sheets and blankets. That way the TV won’t move and shift around in the box during the move.

Then you’re all ready to go! Hopefully you have a moving company here in Tulsa to help you out, getting you across the country or your town quickly and safely, with all of your stuff intact. If not, A-1 Freeman Moving Group has got you covered! We can move you fast and efficiently, and we’ll make sure your TV is safe and sound so you have it all up and running when the big game comes around.

Best. Move. Ever!
Very pleased with the overall respect and care the men gave to my possessions. Even mailing me very quickly the only thing lost in transit. Would recommend to anyone needing a long distant move.
